1. Acceptance of these terms

mVocaby is a language-learning service consisting of a web application and a browser extension (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

mVocaby lets you look up and translate words while you browse and watch videos, save them to a personal vocabulary, and review them with spaced repetition. The Service is provided as-is during active development; features may change, be suspended, or be removed at any time.

3. Your account

You need an account to save vocabulary. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. You may sign in with an email and password or with a Google account. You must provide accurate information and be legally capable of entering into this agreement.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the Service in violation of any applicable law;
• probe, overload, or disrupt the Service, or access it by automated means other than the provided applications;
• attempt to access another user's data;
• resell or redistribute the Service or its data without permission.

5. Your content and data

The words, phrases, example sentences, and page references you save remain yours. You grant us the right to store and process them solely to operate the Service (for example, to generate translations, definitions, and your semantic vocabulary map). You can delete saved items at any time; deleting your account removes your data.

6. Third-party services and content

The Service relies on third parties: DeepL for translations, Voyage AI for text embeddings, Wiktionary for definitions, and Google for optional sign-in. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their processing. mVocaby overlays and augments third-party websites such as YouTube, Netflix, and Google Search but is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them; all trademarks belong to their owners. You are responsible for complying with those sites' own terms while using the extension there.

7. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or endanger the Service, and may discontinue the Service with reasonable notice where practicable.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of translations or definitions, and uninterrupted availability.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, mVocaby and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim (currently zero — the Service is free).

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the application; continued use after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
